DIY: Honey & Sugar Lip Scrub

Hello lovelies,


I don't know about you... but my lips have been extra dry lately! I have been treating them well with lip balms but it doesn't seem to help a whole lot. Finally, today I was fed up! I hate the feeling of dry lips so I decided to exfoliate them with a homemade scrub.

What you will need for this delicious lip scrub:

• Honey 
• Sugar 
• Teaspoon
• Container
• Your favourite lip balm

To start off, pour a teaspoon of sugar into your container. Next, add about 2 tsp. of honey to your little container. Use the other end of your spoon to mix it all together until all of the sugar is blended into the honey. In my picture of my scrub, it is hard to see, but it is mixed well. The sugar is just hard to see within the honey in my picture. 

On clean bare lips, apply a little bit just as you would a lip balm. Massage your lips for about 1-2 minutes until you feel all the dead skin is removed. Also, don't be afraid to give those lips a little lick - it is a delicious sweet treat! Rinse your lips with water and pat dry with a towel (make sure you do a light patting motion when drying your lips because you do not want to remove all of the moisture - just the excess). Keep reapplying your favourite lip balm throughout the day to protect your lips and moisturize. I am using Smith's Minted Rose Lip Balm because it contains a petrolatum base which protects and soothes my lips. Also, I love the hint of mint (ha, I rhymed!), very refreshing. 

I recommend doing this once a day. If your lips are real bad, I would do twice. But no more, because you don't want to dry out your lips.

Magnetic Nails

Hello lovelies,

I painted my nails using this Nail Inc. Magnetic Nail Polish in Trafalgar Square (gray silver with charcoal) and am quite impressed with the results. It leaves a cool pattern on on the nails and slightly changes when moved around in the light. 

Basically, what I did was paint all of my nails one coat then for the second coat, I made it a little bit thicker then held the magnet over that nail immediately for 15 seconds. It then leaves the cool magnetic effect. The one thing I wish this nail polish did was make your nails magnetic... haha! How cool would that be though?! I should really invent such a thing.

OOTD: 02/26/2012

Hello lovelies,

I worked today so I wanted to do a post of my outfit. 

I wore a horizontal striped maxi dress with a cognac belt to accentuate my waist. I love maxi dresses so I was excited to get a winter one that keeps me warm. It is so comfy, it feels like pj's! I do have beige tights as well. 

For accessories, I had on a gold vintage looking bracelet as well as some gold bow studs.

Review: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes

Today I am doing a review as promised. The Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes have had quite a bit of talk about lately. Me, being slightly addicted to makeup, had to give them a try. 

I purchased the shades, Pink Frosting and Coffee Cake. Pink Frosting is a true pink. There is really no undertones of any of other colour. It gives a natural flush look on the cheeks. Coffee Cake is a peachy bronze colour that I think will be perfect for the summer to enhance the tanned look. 

From the name, Bouncy Blush, you may wonder what the texture is like. Basically it is like a memory foam when you press down, however it does not bounce back up. The consistency is smooth and light feeling. It is called a gel-powder blush, which I think is a good description for it. The packaging is nice and compact. The blushes I picked out do not have glitter but just a slight sheen. 

These Bouncy Blushes are quite sheer but are perfect if you are looking for a light blusher. That being said, I find the best way to apply them is with clean fingers. I have tried using a brush, but because they are sheer, it does not work well. You can also build up the pigmentation the more you apply. 

I think they are a cool idea and a good blush from the drugstore. I recommend giving them a try if you are looking for a blush to give a fresh flush to the face.

Spring Trend #1: Minty Fresh

Hi there lovelies,

I am planning on doing a series of Spring 2012 trends in the future. Probably my favourite trend of all is the mint green. Mint green has always been a favourite colour of mine so I was so happy to see it being a top trend for Spring. It has been seen everywhere on the runway: shoes, bags, and clothes. I am constantly obsessed with mint green nails so I can put all of my mint green nail polishes to great use this Spring/Summer.



Mint green works great with most skin tones and is easy to wear with just classic white, neutrals, or other pastels.

OOTD: 02/15/2012 Formal

Hello lovelies,

Last night I had my formal for school. I wanted to post pictures of my outfit I wore! 

                                            

My dress was a fuchsia-raspberry colour that had a flower detailing on one shoulder. I wore natural toned tights as well.

                                        

                            

I thought nude shoes were my best option plus I will get great use out of them. The brand is Mr. Seymour.

Happy Valentine's Day beauties!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day celebrating the day of love. I, in particular, do not have a boyfriend, which I am totally fine with as I get to eat all of the Sweetheart candies I want without sharing. Oh wait, scratch that. I'm taken by Justin Bieber and Harry Styles. ;)  The truth is, Valentine's Day is great either way so enjoy it. I wanted to do this tag today because tags are always fun to read. 1. Although so many people tend to hate her. Kim Kardashian is one of my favourite fashion icons as well as I think she is a very genuine person through reading her blog and Twitter. 
2. I have one younger sister (only by 15 months), who is my best friend. We both have a very similar and different style. 

3. I want to travel to New York so badly!! Hopefully in the near future! *fingers crossed*

4. I have been madly in love with One Direction lately. Especially Harry Styles. <3 Their music is so good. I love their voices and OMG... their accents!!!

5. I play soccer and am one of the captains of our team. We are currently in first place in our league and my dad coaches. 

6. MAC Tendertones truly make me happy. :')

7. I am a fan of rapping Nicki Minaj raps (Super Bass is my fave!) but was absolutely disgusted by her performance at the Grammy's. 

8. I will be graduating high school this year and am looking forward to it. 

9. I want to pursue a career in makeup and fashion. 

10. Today I just received my phone case I ordered so Chloe (thebeautycorner.co.uk) and I are matching! :D

11. I am addicted to Pinterest! I could go through pages and pages of pictures for hours.

What is your favourite makeup brand?

I'd probably have to go with MAC. I just love the quality of their products and they always have cute limited edition lines. 
 High street or designer clothes?I own a few designer clothing pieces, but I mostly own high street, which is most practical especially for someone my age. You can get more for your money shopping high street.  

What is your favourite movie? 
I listed a bunch of my favourite movies in the "About Me" tab so you can check those out. But I love The Last Song (basically every movie based on Nicholas Spark's books) and The Little Mermaid. :) 
Where do you buy the majority of your clothes from?

All over really. Local shops where I live, Forever 21, H&M, etc...
What is your makeup essential?

 I would have to say mascara because I have blonde eyelashes, therefore it makes a huge difference on me and changes the look drastically. 

You are stuck on an Island what do you bring with you?

Laptop, books, sunscreen, lip balm, bikini, etc... 

What is your wardrobe staple?
Probably leggings or jeggings. You can do so much with them in an outfit. 

How do you organize you makeup?

In my closet I have a four drawer container that I organize all my makeup in. I keep my everyday makeup in a makeup bag though and switch out products from my makeup collection when I want to change up my look. 

Quiet village or buzzing city?

I think quiet is nice sometimes but I don't think I could handle it. I am a city girl and love it. Everything is close then. 

Do you buy fashion magazines? If so what is your favourite?

You betcha I do! I love fashion magazines. My favourites are Teen Vogue and Seventeen. I have other favourites since I'm kind of an addict and get lots of inspiration from magazines but those are my top two.

Review: Maybelline Baby Lips

Hello lovelies,

As promised, I am doing a review on the Maybelline Baby Lips. They have been pretty popular lately so I wanted to share my thoughts on these babies.

First off, the packaging is so cute!! I love the vibrant colours and I don't know about you but for me, it is so much more fun to put on a makeup item when the packaging is cute. These lip balms are suppose to moisturize lips for a full 8 hours and after 4 weeks, lips are suppose to be visibly renewed. They contain an SPF 20, which is great. 

I own four out of six of the Baby Lips. From left to right in the picture: Peach Kiss, Peppermint, Pink Punch, and Quenched. They all smell delicious and are scented according to their names. Only two out of the four I own are tinted; Peach Kiss and Pink Punch. Peppermint and Quenched are clear as shown in the picture below. 

The consistency is very smooth and moisturizing, which I love. However, I do not believe they moisturize for a full 8 hours because like any lip product, I am reapplying it throughout the day. This doesn't bother me at all though since I always reapply my lip products throughout the day. Also, the pigmentation is quite sheer. Just enough colour for a lip balm. 

Overall, I highly recommend Baby Lips as they are an overall great lip balm and created in a fun way. I really do love all of the flavours I own as they are so deliciously scented!

NOTD: Peach Melba

Hello lovelies,

I painted my nails using a colour I wanted to save until Spring because it is just so pretty and spring/summer-y. I also usually just wear darker colours on my nails in the winter so this was a change for me.

I received this colour from Chloe (www.thebeautycorner.co.uk/) and I am obsessed with it. Peach Melba by Barry M is absolutely gorgeous! The prettiest peach colour and so fun and girly. I know for sure I will be using this lots during the Spring/Summer. The name is so cute too.

On my bling finger, I applied a coat of Venique's Twinkling Glitter. This is truthfully the best glitter EVER! The bottle in the picture is a great view of what the polish really looks like. Very holographic, iridescent, and über sparkly. I want to paint my nails with Peach Melba and then apply this glitter on all of my nails.

OOTD: 02/04/2012

Hey girlies,

Yesterday I worked and then went out for supper with my sister and one of our friends. 

I wore this really cute patterned sweater dress, it is so comfy! I just paired it with navy opaque tights and wore my cognac over-the-knee riding boots (not in picture). 

For accessories, I wore my white Guess watch and these girly flower stud earrings from Forever 21.

January Favourites!

January has been a great month to try out some new products that I received at Christmastime so I have quite a bit of favourites! 

First off, MAC's Morning Frost paint pot. This is a nice shimmery icy taupe colour that I love wearing. It is just perfect for basically any neutral look since I tend to use taupe colours frequently. 

Lately, I have been a little bit lazy with doing makeup, so I have been wearing the minimal. But one thing I have been LOVING to do is wear a blue eye liner on my upper lash line. It accents my blue eyes lovely, and just gives a change to my everyday makeup by adding a pop of colour. The Coastal Scents gel liner in Sky Line is so perfect. I am in love with it. 

The Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes are so cool! I love the texture of them, I wouldn't say they are "bouncy" but they are kind of like a memory foam. They are very sheer but add a nice bit of colour. I have the colours, Coffee Cake and Fresh Pink. I am planning on doing a full review on these. 

Maybelline Baby Lips are one of my new fave lip products! They are just a nice consistency and moisturizing. Again, I plan on doing a full review in the future. My favourite flavours this month have been, Peppermint and Quenched. 

This has always been a favourite of mine but it is the body moisturizer I have been using the whole month and am unfortunately out of now. :( The Body Shop Cranberry Joy Body Butter. The smell is so lovely and The Body Shop Body Butters are the best moisturizers. 

Principessa Bacio Me Slant lip balm. This is one of the best lip balms I have ever tried. I got it from my sister for Christmas and I usually don't like squeeze tube lip glosses but I love this. It has shea butter and vitamin E so it really gives your lips a treat. 

I am in the middle of reading this book right now and I am so addicted... It is kind of a weird story line but yet so good. I can't wait to finish this one and move on to the next one in the trilogy. Have you read this series at all?
